1. The Festival
1×1 FRAME runs two seasonal festivals per year — Spring and Fall — each followed by jury evaluation by the Founding Council and a public ceremony. Each season produces awards across eight categories. Awards are entered into the permanent Archive and the Hall of Fame.
2. Eligibility
To be eligible, a Film must: (a) be submitted by its Creator or a duly authorized representative; (b) substantively use generative AI tools in its creation, composition, or post-production; (c) comply with the Creator Submission & Licensing Agreement; (d) be available for streaming on the Platform for the duration of the season.
Re-submission of a Film already awarded in a previous season is not permitted. Films declined in a prior season may be re-submitted once, in a substantially revised form.
3. Submission Window
The submission window for each season is six (6) weeks. The opening and closing dates are published on the Festival page. Submissions received after the closing date are deferred to the next season at our discretion.
4. Fees
A submission credit costs ten Euro (€10) per Film. Active Creator Members may submit without per-Film fees, subject to a reasonable cap published on the Festival page. Submission fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
5. Phases
Each season proceeds through four phases: Submission, Eligibility Review, Jury Evaluation, and Ceremony. Schedules and the active phase are published on the Festival page.
6. The Jury
The jury comprises members of the Founding Council and invited Jurors selected for craft. Jurors must disclose any conflict of interest with a submitting Creator, production team, or financing entity, and recuse themselves from the affected Film.
7. Scoring Criteria
Each eligible Film is evaluated across four equally weighted criteria, on a scale defined in the Juror interface:
- Craft — visual coherence, editing, sound, pacing.
- Originality — distinctiveness of voice, concept, or formal approach.
- Narrative — clarity and resonance of story, theme, or argument.
- AI Mastery — intentional and disciplined use of generative tools.
Juror notes are private. Aggregate scores inform the Council's deliberation but are not the sole determinant of awards.
8. Awards
Eight awards are issued per season. Awards include, without limitation: Best Film, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best AI Direction, Best Editing, Best Original Score, and a Jury Prize. The Council may decline to issue any award in a given season if no Film meets its standard.
9. Announcement and Embargo
Award recipients are notified privately and asked to honor an embargo until the public ceremony. Premature disclosure may, at the Council's discretion, result in forfeiture.
10. Integrity
Any attempt to manipulate scoring, impersonate jurors, coordinate inauthentic ratings, or obscure rights ownership will result in disqualification and may lead to a permanent ban. The Council's integrity findings are final.
11. Appeals
A Creator may appeal an eligibility or disqualification decision in writing to legal@1x1frame.com within fourteen (14) days. Award decisions are not subject to appeal.
12. Force Majeure
We may extend a phase, postpone a ceremony, or, in exceptional circumstances, cancel a season for reasons beyond our reasonable control. We will publish notice and, where appropriate, defer eligible Films to the following season.
